I recently illustrated and designed the cover for Key to the Highway's debut self titled EP. Key to the Highway are an Americana/Rhythm and Blues/Alt Country band from Sydney Australia.


The wonderful guys from the band approached me with a pretty clear vision of what they wanted the artwork to look like after a trip to the home of Americana music, Nashville Tennessee.


My aim was to create a really graphic album cover that acted as an introduction to the band's music, before you even began listening to the CD. I wanted the cover to look and feel familiar taking cues from other great album covers but not looking too "retro" or too "country" presenting the band in the bright and exciting light of an electric water colour sunset.
