Both images are a bit of a departure from my "usual" style but I had a heap of fun drawing them and I'm very happy with the result. What more can I say the music made me do it!

A Wedding!
We'll as you know it's been a super busy year and amongst all the illustrating Emma and I managed to find the time to get married! We had a marvelously fun day with friends and family. After a gorgeous sun soaked ceremony we celebrated well into the evening at one of my favorite places in Sydney, a beautiful Art Deco hall that was formally a cinema called the Crest Theatre! Of course we had to arrive in style and a '58 Buick just seemed perfect! Man I could look at those fins for hours, guess they just don't make cars or cinemas like they used to. Of course it wouldn't be our wedding without a bit of Rock 'n' Roll dancing... luckily our good friends The Drey Rollan Band were on hand to make it a night we (and our feet) would never forget!

Making A Tiki Bar Sign!
So I'm a little behind putting this on a my blog but last year I had a really fun time looking into the wild and wonderful world of Tiki's and Tiki Bars. As a wedding gift for some really close friends of mine I created this timber and bamboo Tiki Sign to hang above a great retro bamboo bar I picked up.
It took me quite a few attempts to draw a Tiki Face I was happy with, once I stetched on I was happy with I used my Dremel to carve out a few small pieces of plywood to construct the Tiki Face. With some help from the lovely Emma Jane we built the rest of the sign on a large sheet of plywood covered in green hessian fabric and used some bamboo garden edging to make up the lettering.

The Amazing Spider-Man!
We caught the new Amazing Spider-Man film on the weekend! It was great to finally see old Web-Head battle the Lizard on the big screen, my megos have been fighting for a few decades now! Although I was skeptical of another reboot, the movie was pretty solid. The plot was very comic booky, Andrew Garfield was great as a brooding Gen-Y Peter Parker, Emma Stone was a text book Gwen Stacy and the 3D was very, very nice!

Down At Fraggle Rock!
This is a little teaser image of a much larger project that I am currently working on for the 30th Anniversary of Jim Henson's Fabulous Television Show Fraggle Rock! Fraggle Rock was one of my favorite shows growing up and I've had a real blast of nostalgia working on this piece.

Ghostbusters Playing At Cinema In The Cemetery
Well I was pretty excited when I heard that one of my all time favorite movies, Ghostbusters was being played as part of Cinema In The Cemetery's Summer 2012 Season, so excited in fact that I decided to create a fan-poster for the event.
Cinema In The Cemetery is located at St John's Cemetery, 81 Alt St, Ashfield, NSW Australia.
Ghostbusters is playing on Friday, January 20, The movie starts around 8pm and best of all its free, yes FREE! So why not grab a picnic rug to sit on, some snacks and come along!
For more information about Cinema in the Cemetery look at their face book page!

Cherry Pie!
I recently baked this Cherry Pie for the lovely Emma Jane's Birthday and I think I unintentionally may have uncovered 22 of the 23 uniquely secret flavors that make up Dr. Pepper in the process. Non the less it tasted delicious!

Frankie Featured!
Over the weekend I had the pleasure of attending The Winter Season of Cinema in the Cemetery. The Cinema was playing a spooky double feature, Frankenstein The 1931 Classic and possibly the worst movie ever made, Plan 9 From Outer Space.
The Cinema also displayed my design for Frankies Hair Tonic as part of a few mock advertisements which ran before the feature film.

Just Stamping Around!
I found these great pages of stamping and illustration in a very old drawing book of mine, I think I was about 3 years old when I did this. I really love the way I've tried to draw over any stamps that didn't make a full impression.
I think the picture on the right hand page above is meant to be a self portrait.
The stamp I was using in these pages was of a cartoon bucket of popcorn which I tried to illustrate above. From memory the stamps ink was scented to smell like buttery popcorn mmmmm.
