I recently dusted off my print Gocco machine again to create a set of four all new 2-colour prints for Sweets Workshop's third annual My Goodness My Gocco Exhibition.

Fresh out of the oven, here is a delicious new Christmas card that I hand printed on my Gocco and individually water coloured. They are available at Sweets Workshop!

Hansel and Hilda, were the two most popular performers of the Hart & Heart Bros Circus. Hansel or The Mighty Hans as he was widely know, was the Circus' Strong-Heart. In his act he would lift, pull, push or bend seemingly unbendable or unbreakable objects. Hilda was the circus' Heart-Throb, her enchanting good looks and death defying knife-throwing act kept audiences from all across the land on the edge of their seats.


Hansel a hopeless romantic and closet amateur poet was hypnotized by Hilda's beauty from the day she joined the troupe. Not wanting to mix work and play Helena repeatedly resisted all of Hansel's advances, which were usually hidden within his many feats of strength. On one such occasion, Hansel painted 1000 pink hearts on Lucy the Circus Elephant and then lifted her above his head while balancing on one toe. Hilda thought this was sweet but far too corny for her. In a final act of desperation Hansel slipped a haiku he had written entitled two strong hearts under Hilda's door. Upon reading his poem Hilda discovered that they were both closet amateur poets, and decided to ask The Mighty Hans over to her circus trailer for dinner.

I've been pretty busy lately but I managed to dust off my Gocco and print two new brand 3 colour Gocco Prints for the second My Goodness My Gocco at Sweets Workshop.

The exhibition features many Australian and International artists, Including (AU) Barbara Coddington, Benconservato, Borderline Rifraf, Emmajane Illustration, Ghost Patrol, Magic Jelly, Matthew Roland, (US) Art Shark Designs, Jill Labieniec, Haunted House of Project's and Laura Berger.

Seen here wearing his trusty wayfarers and trademark grin, Mr Pineapple is set to board a jet and add another port of call to the well documented tradition of the traveling pineapple. Whether it's the Ski Fields of Switzerland or the great Reefs of Fiji, Pineapples are  known for the diverse destinations of their grand vacationing abroad since the tragically devastating installation of the piña colada as the official beverage of their native homeland, Puerto Rico in 1978.

This is Lucy and whatever you do don't let her anywhere near your wardrobe.  A closet wardrobe-a-holic Lucy has particular fondness for the boho-chic fashions of the swinging 1960's and a peculiar aversion to the smell mothballs. Such is the trail of destruction caused by Lucy in her attempts to complete the perfect ensemble that is has given rise to the saying: Like having an elephant through ones wardrobe.

Elvis Aaron Frankenstein was a singer and actor who could arguably neither sing nor act. A cultural icon, he is commonly known simply as Frankie and is also sometimes referred to as The Modern Prometheus of Rock 'n' Roll. During the height of his film career Frankie's image was used to sell everything from lightning rods to platform shoes and as seen here in this early advert his own line of hair care products. He starred in a total of 31 films including: Love Meat Tender, Fear in Acapulco, Harum Scare'em, A.I. Blues, All Sewn Up, Flaming Torch, Laboratory Rock, Ghouls, Ghouls, Ghouls, Paradise Transylvanian Style, Follow That Brains, Killin' Cousins, Ghoul Happy, Undead In The Country, Brainbake, Stay Away Monster, Live A Little Die A Little, The Trouble With Ghouls, Viva Las Vengeance, Blue Transylvania, Scareway, The Bride of Frankie & Johnny and It Happened At A Burning Mill. Sadly, health problems, prescription drug dependence and angry mobs of peasants with fire torches plagued the star in his later life leading to his untimely death at an early age. 

For those of you that don't know Gocco (プリントゴッコ Purinto Gokko, "Print Gocco") is a self-contained compact color printing system invented in 1977 by Noboru Hayama. Gocco became immensely popular in Japan and it is estimated that one-third of Japanese households own a Print Gocco system. The name "Print Gocco" is derived from the Japanese word gokko (ごっこ?), loosely translated as make-believe play.

For this print I decided to revisit an old design I created for a T-Shirt back in the Soap T-Shirts era, called Who Let Lucy Into The Wardrobe? My first step here was to recreate the illustration, as I felt my original line work was a bit sloppy and my pen and ink work has gotten much better.

Before Printing, I had to cut down my stock, separate the image into its 3 colours for printing and image the 3 masters through the Print Gocco's flash bulb system.
