Speaking of Superheroes....

I know I've been a little quiet on the blog front but I have been knee deep illustrating a dream project for my good friend Phil over at Adventureland Games. Not to give too much away but the project involves me helping to conceptualise and illustrate 30 brand new Superheroes for a new team based card game which Adventureland Games is developing.

Anyone who knows me at all could probably tell you that this is the project that I have waited my entire life for and I'm having a blast working with Phil as we share wild imaginations, a dark but fun sense of humor, heaps of pop culture knowledge as well as a clear vision of how the characters are going to look.

For the most part I am looking to the Silver Age of comics books for inspiration and taking stylistic cues from some of my favorite Superhero Comic Book artists such as; Jack Kirby, Herb Trimpe, Steve Ditko, Don Heck, Sal Buscema and John Romia Sr,

And as a special teaser for what is to come I will leave you with early sketches of two of my favorite characters so far:

Rocky Road House

When pimply, 90 pound weakling teenager Richard Rickley got his hands caught in a vat of Radioactively Mystic cooking oil, he became Rocky Roadhouse!!!

Zombie Lad

Growing up Trevor  knew he was different but it wasn't until his sixteenth birthday that he discovered ma and pa Trent weren't his real parents and That he was in fact the sole survivor of a distant planet called Cryptune, he was sent to earth by his true father aboard a tomb capsule in  the final moments of his home planets existence. Being on earth gave Trevor many mysterious powers, he was faster, stronger and more agile than the other inhabitants of earth and earths  gravity meant Trevor could also fly, unfortunately to the other inhabitants of earth  Trevor's appearance and appetite for brains made them believe he was  a member of the living dead and so they gave him the name Zombie Lad.....
