The Drey Rollan Band Album Cover!

I recently had the extreme pleasure of designing the artwork for my good friends; Drey, Bobbie, B, Mike and Andrew's fantastic debut album The Drey Rollan Band! The cover design came from a poster I designed for them a while back, which they liked so much they wanted to use for their album cover, needless to say I was incredibly chuffed. In designing the cover, I really wanted to visually represent their old world sound and especially the excitement and energy I always get from seeing them perform live!

Initially I looked to the legendary covers of some of Blue Note and Chess Records for a little inspiration and decided to have the band silhouetted. I also chose to throw in the red curtain as not only a bit of a nod to their Rock 'N Roll/Rockabilly/Blues sound but also to some of their early gigs on stage at the Roxbury in Glebe.

After talking with the band, we decided to use the inside of the album sleeve to visually show their time in New York and tell the story of them in the studio recording the album. They took some great photos and you get a real sense of their trip and their recording process.
