This is the third series of genre bookmarks that I have been lucky enough to illustrate for my local library, Ashfield in Sydney. This project was such a fantastic one that I thoroughly enjoyed working on. It involved librarians choosing a genre and compiling a list of their favourite authors to recommend to their customers. I was then given the task of illustrating the front of each of the bookmarks.


The genres included: Popular Science, Maths and Technology, Aboriginal, Best of the Award Winners, Chick Lit, Discovery & Harry Potter Read Alikes! While illustrating the bookmarks I wanted to keep some graphic elements unified e.g. the placement of the open book and the centre circle. I then used colour, hand drawn silhouettes as well as  positive and negative space to create illustrations that represented each genre.
